Whether the rumored upcoming Google tablet, dubbed Nexus, will indeed be made by Asus is yet to be seen and so is the pricing, which is expected to be quite an attractive one. However, Mountain View is preparing a different approach, pretty much like Apple and Amazon.
According to recent reports, Google is said to prepare an online store where it will be selling its tablets directly to consumers, pretty much like in the good old Nexus One days. Apple and Amazon are both doing this but whether Google’s own tablet business will benefit from such an approach is yet unknown.
As far as the tablets are concerned, rumors equally mention Asus and Samsung as OEM partners, as well as “co-branded” hardware. One such tablet, made by Asus, will reportedly hit the market later this year, with some mentioning an earlier, others a more distant release date. Would a low-priced, relatively high-specced tablet running vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich interest you?
