Google yesterday brought the news that the good old Android Market (as well as Google Music) will be rebranded to Google Play. Whether it is something that will help Google take its game one step further is so far a mystery, though Michael is trying to explain Play implications on Android tablets.
Our Samsung Galaxy S II, residing in Europe, and running the latest leaked Samsung Ice Cream Sandwich ROM has just received its Google Play update. It replaces the Android Market and the shortcut becomes Play Store (with version 3.4.6). Guess what: our Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running a custom ICS ROM also received the update (same version). The rest seems to be unchanged but it’s good to see Google aren’t wasting time. Did you receive the rebranded Market update? All you need to do is open the Android Market, tap back to the home screen and upon your next launch you should received the refresh.
