Yesterday, we learned that Google was updating its Google+ app to adopt some of the look-and-feel of Ice Cream Sandwich in advance of its release. It looks like that was just the tip of the iceberg, and today the company has also updated Google Docs and Google Reader for Android, giving both a little Ice Cream Sandwich flavor.

Besides the new looks, the apps also get a few adjustments to their feature sets. Reader (which also just got a makeover for its web-based implementation) now integrates swipe gesture controls for navigating within the app and between stories. The app’s also actually seeing a few of its features taken away, as Google doesn’t want Reader duplicating any of the social functionality that is now a part of Google+.

The updates to Docs are a little more substantial. Information is now presented with new screen layouts, including a three-panel interface when browsing for documents, and the inclusion of a details panel that quickly shows you who has access to a certain file, as well as displaying a thumbnail. Other changes include better video support, and new ways to share files.

The updated versions of both apps are available in the Android Market now.
