Google has a minor upgrade for its Android Gmail app available, fixing a few bugs and making it a little easier to select and copy text.
The copy update is only for Gingerbread devices, which is good timing considering the Gingerbread user base is about to drastically expand with the release of Android 2.3 for Nexus One phones. Other Android users will just get the bug fixes and the ability to sync-up custom label colors.
Gingerbread users will now be able to select and copy text by tapping-and-holding, just like you’re used to doing elsewhere. As minor updates go, this isn’t hugely exciting, but it speaks to one of Google’s strong suits: its desire to streamline the otherwise unwieldy. Baby steps, sure, but we’ll take it!
The updated Gmail app is available now in the Android Market.
