It’s only been three days since we learned of Mozilla’s latest release for Android, Firefox 7.0. At the time, we were commenting on the rapidly-accelerated release schedule that’s taken hold of Firefox. Mozilla’s not about to miss a beat, and before the week’s out it’s managed to release its first beta version of Firefox 8.0 for Android.

As a consequence of this release strategy, there aren’t always a ton of new features to report on in even these major-numbered releases. So far along in its beta development, Firefox 8.0 adds just a handful of new abilities. Twitter is now included in the default lineup of search engines, making it just that much easier to search through. A new password option lets you set one master password through which you can then securely access all the other saved passwords for various sites you’re having Firefox manage. Lastly, Mozilla has simplified the process for saving a bookmark to your Android home screen.

The Firefox 8.0 beta is available in the Android Market currently.
