Rooting your Android used to be a fairly complicated, and potentially dangerous process. That’s not to say rooting is devoid of risks, and doing so will still likely void your warranty. Recent methods of rooting are turning more and more to a “one-click” procedure, and thanks to apps like VISIONary, and now z4root, rooting may not even require a PC.
Where VISIONary will provide temporary root for a small set of devices, z4root permanently roots some devices. Which devices? According to some detective work by Droid-Life, z4root will root the following devices:
- Droid X
- Droid 2
- HTC EVO
- HTC Hero
- Galaxy S devices
Got one of those? Want to see if it works on your Android? Grab the latest .apk from the thread on XDA-Developers and let us know how it goes!
