Although Verizon Wireless had already begun to dispatch its Android 2.2 Froyo update to the HTC Droid Incredible, the upgrade was rolled out OTA in batches. Now, it seems that the upgrade is widely available and users who are comfortable with downloading the update to their PC, transferring it to a micro SDHC card, and installing it manually can do so if they don’t want to wait for Verizon to push out the update.
The update file is available from Android Central. After downloading, you’ll need to rename the file to “update.zip” and then place the file into the root storage of your memory card. Your phone will need to be powered off, and when you power on the phone, you must hold down the volume down button along with the power button to reach the bootloader screen with the triangle. Once you’re at the bootloader, hit volume up and power at the same time to enter recovery mode, and then you can apply your update. After everything is finished, your Droid Incredible will reboot with Froyo and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.
