Though the HTC Droid Incredible is a 3G smartphone that operates on Verizon Wireless’s CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A network, enterprising users have discovered a hidden menu that can be pulled up through Google Gesture Search that reveals 4G settings on the Android smartphone. It could be, since the Sprint HTC EVO 4G and the Droid Incredible have similar OS builds, the 4G settings could be a carry-over from the Sprint development for WiMax. Another possible theory is that in rolling out the Droid Incredible’s Froyo ROM, HTC has been busy working on a 4G LTE phone for Verizon Wireless and the hidden 4G settings could point to early LTE work. Whatever the case may be, the Droid Incredible, before you get your hopes up, is only a 3G smartphone and will be limited to 3G because of hardware–that means an OTA firmware upgrade can’t magically make 4G happen.
