Last week, Droid Charge owners started noticing that their mobile hotspot apps were no longer functioning properly. Verizon acknowledged the problem, offering the temporary work-around of manually moving the Charge’s date back to May in order to restore functionality. A bit kludgy, sure, but the carrier said it would have a proper update coming out soon to nip the issue in the bud. Now Charge update EE4 is dropping, addressing the hotspot problem and adding a few features while it’s at it.

Verizon promises that EE4 will bring the Charge better GPS and web browser performance, though it doesn’t specify just what particular changes are in store for either. Better power management should mean you’ll see somewhat increased battery life post-update, especially if you make a lot of voice calls.

Voice calling also gets a few bug fixes of its own, correcting two issues affecting call audio, and one dealing with returning calls. Email will see better subfolder management, and sync should work better.

Charge software EE4 should be available now. Check for available system updates to get started installing the 10MB package.
