With all the buzz around Carrier IQ and its software on smartphones apparently recording keystrokes and web traffic, it is just normal that Senator Al Franken, Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and Law, has expressed his concern in a letter to the CEO of CarrierIQ.
However, if you want to take matter in your own hands, sort of, you can now check whether Carrier IQ is installed on your phone or not. Following the source link you will land on an Android Market page for Voodoo Carrier IQ detector by supercurio. This tool, while not totally 100% accurate, will try to find Carrier IQ bits on your phone. Basically it is looking for CarrierIQ rootkit on the device but “Anti – Carrier IQ fixes are not detected yet”. If you’re curious, grab the app and check for yourself.
