The 4.1-inch Dell Thunder, a more pocketable Android version of the 5-inch Dell Streak, was caught in more detailed pictures. The screen is confirmed to be a 4.1-inch AMOLED display, which slots it just slightly larger than the 4-inch Galaxy S series smartphone, though Samsung’s devices will use Super AMOLED versus AMOLED.
What’s curious about the Dell Thunder is that it employs a three-button design, something that Microsoft is insisting OEMs employ for Windows Phone 7. While many Android handsets stick to a four-button layout, the three-button layout could potentially signify that the Dell Thunder may be available, in the future, as a Windows Phone 7 device as well.
We’ll have to see what Dell’s plans are for Android and Windows Phone 7. The company is a Microsoft partner for Windows Phone 7.
