CyanogenMod, one of the most popular Android custom ROMs has officially dropped the G1 and Magic from the list of devices supported by CM7 Gingerbread.
Two of the oldest Android-powered devices, both the G1 and the Magic were never destined to run Android 2.0 or above, but that didn’t stop the CyanogenMod team. They were able to get both the Eclair and Froyo AOSP versions of Android running — and running well — on both devices.
Now that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is out, the hardware limitations of those devices are finally too much to overcome. Let’s pause for a moment and reflect upon just how powerful those two little phones were, and all they did to get us to where we are today.
