A little earlier this week we got to see a leak that seemed to reveal the coming arrival of a new color variant for the Motorola Droid RAZR, with a blue version of the handset tipped to launch on May 17. It seemed a little odd to be hearing about a new color option this long after the phone’s initial launch, but it sounded good all the same; the more choices, the better. Today that new blue model gets officially confirmed by Verizon, and we get to see a new leak that hints at a nice price break on the horizon for the RAZR Maxx.
It turns out that you may be able to get the blue RAZR even sooner than it seemed. While Verizon says that the phone won’t be available online on in every retail location until May 17, certain stores will be getting the phone early. There’s no indication of just which locations will make the cut, so be sure to call ahead first if you’re headed to one with the express intent of finding a blue RAZR.
We still don’t know what the chances are for the RAZR Maxx to see a similar blue makeover (it doesn’t seem too likely), but there’s some separate good news for the RAZR’s power-packed cousin. A leaked shot of a Verizon poster reveals plans for a $100 discount for the Maxx. Considering that the the phone currently goes for for $300 on-contract, that could make a big difference in the eyes of consumers. Unfortunately, there’s no clue here as to when the sale might start, so we’ll just have to keep our eyes open for more info.
