Everyone is expecting the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T to get its official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in July and it appears that it might just happen. The carrier is reportedly releasing a Gingerbread pre-release to 1,000 volunteers.
Rumor has it that the new update will not only bring Google’s latest and greatest platform to the phone but Motorola is also unlocking the bootloader — the unlocked international bootloader is already available. If the feedback is positive we should expect to see the official ROM refresh soon and that rumored July timeframe might be turning to reality.
If it’s anything like the leaked ROM that surfaced recently, we should see Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, improved MotoBlur and the ability to sideload apps. Additionally, there should also be improvements in the following departments: overscroll glow, application grouping, re-built main applications, downloads management, an improved camera, better power management, a re-done keyboard, and some nifty new animations.
