A few hours ago, we learned form HTC that users on AT&T were about to get Ice Cream Sandwich on their Vivid smartphones. Since then, AT&T has released its own statement, confirming today’s availability of ICS for the Vivid, and giving us an official list of the phones it plans to see upgraded to Android 4.0.
Much like the list released by Verizon at the beginning of the month, we’ve already heard a lot of this from manufacturers, but it’s reassuring to see things backed-up by carriers, as we all know how much influence they have over whether or not our phones get updates.
In addition to the HTC Vivid, AT&T plans to deliver ICS for the following models:
LG Nitro
Samsung Captivate Glide, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and Galaxy Tab 8.9
While AT&T doesn’t offer any more specific of a time frame for these releases than that they’ll get here in the “coming months”, we have better estimations from some of the manufacturers themselves; Motorola, for instance, indicates that its two Atrix models will get ICS in the US sometime in Q3. We suppose that’s technically in the coming months, but it’s still quite a bit off; we may have a wait in store for ICS on some of the rest of these models, too.
