“Portable electronic device with graphical user interface supporting application switching” is the name of the patent Apple managed to secure; in other words, a smartphone capable of multitasking.
The abstract of the patent (which you can read by following the source link) is even more interesting and seems to apply to those actions where a certain connected call is being maintained while the user interface — “in response to detecting activation of a menu icon or menu button” — switches to something else and then back by following the same procedure. The patent is rather interesting and has been filed on January 6, 2008. Once Apple’s, we can’t wait to see what Cupertino will do with it.
