While Google maintains a very nice web-based mobile version of Google Docs, you just can’t beat a good native app. The company just updated Google Docs for Android, giving it some new functionality based around the service’s web clipboard, as well as expanding its accessibility to a much larger audience with the addition of support for 45 new languages.
The Google docs web clipboard gives you a place to temporarily store content as you edit a document, without the traditional limitation of a clipboard only being locally accessible from one device. The company demonstrates the feature with the example of adding an image to a Google Docs files. As you snap the picture, via the Google Docs widget, you can store it directly to your account’s web clipboard. Then, when you’re editing the destination document from your PC, you can easily paste-in the image, never having to permanently save it anywhere or upload to any gallery just to retrieve it.
There are a few small changes to file management with the app, letting you choose what app to use when opening docs, and making it easier to email docs off as attachments. And, of course, there are those 45 new languages to choose from. Look for the new Google Docs in the Android Market today.
