Android is definitely the favorite mobile platform for smartphones when it comes to end-users — based even on the number of 300,000 devices activated per day globally — but as far as business and enterprise usage is concerned, the Google platform has to, well, still evolve a little.
Google announced three updates to its Android for business portfolio which will be available to all Google Apps for Business and Google Apps for Education customers. There’s a new Google Apps Device policy to secure a lost or stolen smartphone running Froyo or later — via locating the handset on a map, ringing the device, and resetting the smartphone PIN or password remotely via the new My Devices website.
The new option to Encrypt Data on Device has been added to Google Apps administrators and we have a new Google Apps Lookup, a corporate contacts application to find people by text or voice searching — and then call, email, IM or text them. So what do you think, how long till Android will become the preferred business mobile platform?
