About a week ago, we saw Amazon deliver a minor update to its Amazon Appstore, offering some new options for notifications and better compatibility checking. At the time, we noted how Amazon was coming up on the one year anniversary of when it originally launched its Appstore, giving Google its first real competition. We were hoping that might mean Amazon offering some nice savings as a celebratory gesture, but hadn’t heard about anything like that as of last week. Well, it looks like Amazon was thinking along those lines after all, as it just announced a week’s worth of deals on popular apps.
For starters, Amazon has Plants vs. Zombies for a dollar, and will be introducing deals on a new title every day for the next week. Just how much you’ll save will vary from app to app, but look for discounts of fifty percent or more. Some of those upcoming titles include Fruit Ninja, Tetris, and Monopoly.
Besides the app deals, Amazon is also giving away a few Kindle Fire tablets to some lucky users. It looks like things will kick-off on the company’s Facebook page just after 1:00 p.m. Eastern this afternoon, and you’ll have until the end of the month to enter for shot at winning.
