Pretty much on track, Amazon launched its Android App Store today as rumors suggested and despite the recent Apple lawsuit for trademark, it’s still wearing the “Appstore” name — given that it’s “Appstore” in one word instead of “App Store” in two.
The address to bookmark is www.amazon.com/appstore and there will also be a dedicated Android application ready for download. Early shoppers will get a free copy of Angry Birds Rio so make sure to check out when the Appstore is accessible or the Android app is available for download. Don’t worry if you miss it as Amazon is said to offer one paid title for free each day.
Amazon Appstore is the home of approximately 3,800 applications at the moment and we expect it to have a spectacular growth. One of its downsides (at least for the moment) is that it’s US only for the moment but we expect that too to change. Let us know where you’ll be buying your applications at from now on!
