We’ve brought you exclusive renders and news of the Samsung Gem smartphone coming to Alltel at the time the device appeared in Verizon press shots. Alltel recently announced the Samsung Gem mid-range smartphone which is now available for free after a $50 mail in rebate and a two year service agreement.
Powered by Google’s Android 2.1 Eclair mobile platform, the Samsung Gem features an 800Mhz processor, 3.2-megapixel camera and a 3.2-inch WQVGA LCD touch display, in addition to the usual suspects like Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. It also packs Swype virtual keyboard as its default SIP, besides the Google Android standard goodies like Google Search and Google Maps with turn-by-turn GPS navigation.
