Samsung Mobile president apologizes for Note 7 debacle
Mobile communications division president Dong-jin Koh bowed his head in front of the South Korean press today, saying that he was just as frustrated about the situation as his customers were and “would at any cost find the exact cause to restore trust of consumers so that they can use Samsung products without any safety concerns.” Koh also gave thanks to his rank and file who have supported him through posts on online message boards.
The executive started his career with the chaebol in 1984 and took his current position in place of senior member Jong-kyun Shin in last year. Shin is now in charge of larger strategy for the entire mobile unit.
Media reports suggest that higher-ups could remove Koh from his position for the lack of quality assurance that went into the batteries for the Note 7.
