HTC forecasts to break even soon, but until then, it’s still losing money

HTC last recorded operating profit back in its first fiscal quarter of 2015. Since then, the Taiwanese manufacturer has been waltzing in the underground as it reports further operating losses for its second fiscal quarter.

The company reported a 27 percent sequential rise in revenues to 18.9 billion NTD (597 million USD), but it’s a year-on-year downturn of 43 percent. Operating losses have improved from last quarter and last year to 4.2 billion NTD (133 million USD).

The company is still trying to work itself out of the rut it created with the One M9 and it’s doing so slowly, if not too steadily.

Specifics and forward-looking statements were kept under lock and key, but it seems as though the HTC 10 and the Vive headset are faring better than previously feared and that the products’ strengths will continue to grow revenue through the back half of the year.
