As Spotify crossed its own little milestone yesterday, it’s important to note Instagram’s today.

The Facebook subsidiary announced that it has crossed 500 million total users. Better than 60 percent of them use the app daily and more than 8- percent of the base comes from outside the US. The app crossed this mark shortly after its interface redesign and the launch of its new feed curation algorithm.

Facebook bought the image-sharing social media platform in 2012. Sibling acquisition WhatsApp revealed a couple months ago that it had a billion total users.
