All-new Project Ara website draws attention to radio silence

Did we ever give up on a truly modular smartphone? Did Google leave Project Ara to simmer and burn out? Do we care anymore?

Project Ara has been quiet in 2016. It was tweeting sweet nothings to us, promising everything will be alright soon. It left things off with a retweet of the Google ATAP sizzle reel back on December 17.

And all we have now is a logo. That’s the website projectara.com takes you to right now. At bottom are links to said Twitter pile, an email address for developers to use and an updated copyright to Google.

If Ara wanted to impress upon us a sense of foreboding before this year’s Google I/O, well, some foreboding would be good right now to replace the emptiness in our souls. Please, tell us those benchmarks have some meaning.

Oh well.
