Motorola’s Droid Turbo 2 wants to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow so badly, the phone can practically taste it. Going back to last year, the Turbo 2’s been sniffing around at what Marshmallow had to offer, running early test builds wherever it could get its hands on some code, but a public release has been just out of reach. Last month, on multiple occasions it looked like Verizon users were just about to see their update come down the pipe, but even after we saw the carrier publish its formal changelog for the release, mass distribution never arrived. Perhaps the Droid Turbo 2’s Marshmallow update was just waiting for some warmer weather to get here, and as we enjoy a balmy March breeze this afternoon, we’re finally seeing Motorola signal the official start of the update’s release.
It may be official, sure, but the update’s still taking its sweet time in coming to users: right now the Droid Turbo 2’s Marshmallow update is in its soak testing phase, hitting a select group of users to serve as one last trial run before broad deployment.
Motorola says that if everything goes smoothly now, we could see plans for the update’s full release start getting underway in just a few more days.
We know: we wish we had a firm date to tell you, “THIS is when your phone will get Marshmallow,” but even without that level of precision, we’re still happy to bring you this news, all the same. Your patience should be rewarded, with Android 6.0 hitting your Droid Turbo 2 in just a matter of days.
