HTC mulls over Vive PC bundles

HTC Vive sales had a short stumble as its first batch of devices had all been ordered up, leaving the product sold out on the website. While things are back up again and backorder fulfilments are now up through May, the company’s still figuring out at how it can extend sales.

Dan O’Brien, vice president of planning and product management for HTC Vive, said in an interview with FORTUNE that the company will “have PC bundles with Vive-optimized PCs on our website soon,” but he doesn’t think that “PC bundles will be a major driver of sales.”

As a reminder, the major stumbling blocks for any computer will be the GPU (at minimum a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 or equivalent) and CPU (at minimum an Intel i5-4590, AMD FX 8350 or equivalent). While the site already directs prospective consumers to PC manufacturers sites, doing a bundle might be able to take another hassle away from them.
