New HTC One M10 leak gives us clear look at phone’s back, but what’s with that beveled edge?
The past several weeks have been so dominated by leaks, rumors, and talk about mobile hardware that’s yet to go official, that the arrival of MWC has been a welcome change of pace: finally, some actual, honest to goodness, manufacturer-confirmed news! But even as we see new phones from Samsung, LG, Sony, and others launch right before us in Barcelona, there are still further models still lurking out over the horizon – and that means an ongoing opportunity for leaks. HTC may have brought a few new Desire models to this year’s MWC, but for the big 2016 flagship, we’re still waiting – and odds are we’ll get it sometime next month. Until then, we’ve got another new HTC One M10 leak to check out, this time giving us a great look at the phone’s rear.
Thanks to earlier leaked photos, we’ve already had a couple opportunities to check out the One M10/Perfume from the front, but we haven’t been nearly so lucky in terms of getting to check out the hardware from the other side – maybe the best we had there was a mock-up render. But now we’ve finally got a pic to compare that to, and it’s one very nice match.
Maybe the most interesting thing we see here, besides that lens that’s reportedly covering a new 12MP UltraPixel camera, is the change that’s coming to the phone’s flash package. The standard dual-color LEDs are still present, but beneath them we see a blacked-out area that rumor suggests will house the phone’s laser-assisted auto-focus.
There’s one bit here that didn’t appear on that render, though, and that’s what sure looks like one seriously beveled edge. Compared to every One flagship we’ve seen to date, that chamfer is a huge departure, and one we’re not sure fans will respond kindly to. We suppose this could be an earlier prototype, but find ourselves forced to admit there’s a chance this is how the hardware could actually arrive.
