There are ups and downs to be had in the tablet market. Unfortunately, the long-range outlook is still down.
Digitimes tracked several US-based tablet sellers and has recorded over 65.3 million shipments during the holiday quarter with Apple’s iPad Air 2 chipping in 16.1 million units alone. The whole pie represents a 24 percent increase from Q3, but a 14 percent drop year-over-year.
29 million non-iPads from major brands were checked out, 6 percent better over last year. Amazon’s Fire 7 stole share away from ODMs which turned their focus towards Windows 10 tablets instead. Huawei’s sales beat ASUS’s for the first holiday season ever.
The good news is that the Q3 to Q4 difference this year is better than last year’s at 17 percent.
