The world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer continues to build global brand awareness for the Honor family, recently launching the impressively cheap 5X stateside and on European shores, and now setting the stage for a rather early Honor 7 Android 6.0 promotion.
Granted, it may not feel very early compared to updates for Nexus products or a handful of Motorolas, but you have to keep in mind the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are barely starting their official rollouts today.
The same goes for the Huawei Honor 7, but only as far as beta testers are concerned, with OTAs sent to them “in stages” already. Next up, every other owner of the Full HD 5.2-incher should gear up to leave Lollipop behind within a couple of weeks.
That’s Honor’s solemn Twitter promise, and if it doesn’t pan out, you know what to do. Online shame the manufacturer until the Marshmallow dispatch begins. It seems to have worked for Samsung’s S6 duo, though the newer Note 5 and S6 Edge+ are still waiting.
Back to Huawei, it’s a little ironic to hear a member of the secondary Honor lineup could score Doze battery life enhancements, Google Now on tap integration, and so on and so forth before the Mate S or P8 jump on the M bandwagon. Then again, there’s always the Mate 8, released not long ago with 6.0 Marshmallow pre-loaded.
