Not far away from Cupertino in Sunnyvale, California sits some office spaced leased to a company called SixtyEight Research — it’s said to be an Apple-owned holding company for top secret projects. One of those projects is believed to be the Apple Car, codenamed “Titan.”

Perhaps that may explain why someone filed a noise complaint to city hall, asking:

[Do] there have to [be] motor noises at 11:00 p.m. at night like last night? Even with the windows closed I could still hear it.

AppleInsider obtained the complaint that dates back to sometime last year. The resident

Electric vehicle engines do not naturally make noise, but many automakers, possibly even Apple, have been trying to figure out their implementations for engine noise emulators to not only simulate a traditional driving experience, but to make the vehicles more apparent to pedestrians, the blind, cyclists and other people outside the vehicle.

Other permits state verbatim that necessary internal improvements were “for Apple.” Some of those improvements were said to be an “auto work area” and a “repair garage.”

The SixtyEight Research plot is comprised of seven buildings and spans over 300,000 square feet. Back over city limits, Apple is itself in the process of expanding its own campus.
