Samsung Galaxy S7 rumored to last more than 17 hours playing full-bright video

While we could rehash battery issues on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, the sheer endurance we’re talking about here blows away a lot of other devices. Does our Michael Fisher still have the Huawei Mate 8? Maybe he can have some fun with a full-brightness video test. One Russian leaker has claimed that the Galaxy S7 can last 17 hours in such a test before powering off.

Samsung has pushed around its second-generation 14nm FinFET process in its Exynos 8 Octa cores. But between innovations in battery charging and discharging and Android Marshmallow and the above, we really don’t know what to make of this. And given that the S7 edge has a battery reportedly 600mAh better than the 3,000mAh on the S7, we’d like to see what’s going on with that device.

But without substantiation, we guess we’ll have to get our hands on the S7 ourselves and do the testing in front of our eyes.
