This may just be our first real look at the iPhone 5se (not 6c) next to the iPhone 5
It’s no longer a question of “if”, but rather “when” and, well, “what”. Also, “why”, for some people, although many feel there’s definitely still a market for a diminutive iPhone, especially if priced significantly below the 6s and 6s Plus.
At only 4 inches in diagonal, you’d think that would absolutely be the case, yet it’s possible the iPhone 5se will borrow a number of features from the 6s duo, thus needing to charge compact handheld lovers an arm and a leg.
Then again, anything’s possible at the moment, including 6c or 7c names, and an A8 chip and 8MP rear-facing camera as technical highlights, essentially shrinking the iPhone 6 and allowing Apple to ask no more than $450 for a 16GB configuration.
In the meantime, this credible-looking photo alleging to show the iPhone 5se alongside a standard 5 has surfaced online, and it seems to back recent claims relating to the “new” visuals. The two devices obviously share a lot in common, but they’re not 100 percent identical, the most obvious difference being the home button alteration for Touch ID adoption.
At the same time, the looming “low-cost” iPhone sports rounded corners to complement the overall smooth, industrial vibe, plus refined and repositioned lateral controls for volume and sleep.
It goes without saying there’s no sure way to verify the legitimacy of the pic, but the source checks out, and at least at a first glance, this looks like a more believable product than the one “leaked” on video last week.
Don’t count on 3D Touch technology making the cut for the commercial-ready iPhone 5se, but expect Live Photos, NFC support and a full range of colors including gold and rose gold.
