Mix and match the Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2, and get 50 percent off one of the phones

Buying new gear around Valentine’s Day can be a very treacherous affair, as you don’t want to make your better half jealous, but you may also not want to spend a fortune on smartphones for both of you.

Luckily, Verizon has cash-strapped lovers covered this year, proposing you “mix and match the Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2” for a cool 50 percent discount on any of the two devices. Not both, mind you, as you’ll still need to pay full retail for one of the big-battery handhelds.

If you’re willing to cough up $624 on the Turbo 2, you can then choose to drop an additional $312 on a second Turbo 2 or $192, down from $384, for a “matching” Droid Maxx 2. Meanwhile, if you pay the normal price of $384 for the Maxx 2, you only have one option for your special someone – a second Maxx 2, at $192.

Either way, the savings are definitely major, especially considering the young age and robust specs of these two muscular Android soldiers. They’re both just a few months old, capable of running up to a full 48 hours of continuous talk time between charges, and equipped with state-of-the-art 21MP rear-facing cameras.

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 further offers a 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB RAM, whereas the Droid Maxx 2 lowers the ante to 5.5 inches of Full HD IPS LCD sharpness, SD615 power and 2 gigs of memory.
