HTC One M10 to be MWC no-show? Latest rumors point to March launch
Next month, some of the biggest names in smartphones will bring their new flagships to MWC. LG’s all but confirmed its intent to announce the G5, and Samsung looks likely to unveil its Galaxy S7 series of handsets. But what about HTC? We’d sure expect to see the One M10, O2, Perfume – whatever you call it – go official in roughly the same timeframe, but so far there hasn’t been much in the way of evidence specifically linking HTC’s launch plans to MWC. Now a new rumor expands on that situation a little, claiming that HTC’s One M9 follow-up will indeed sit MWC out, and we’ll only see it launch sometime in March.
Reportedly, HTC failed to approve prototypes of the phone as swiftly as expected, and sending them back to the design stage will ultimately lead to a launch that falls a bit later than anticipated.
That will supposedly mean our launch announcement doesn’t come until some point in March, with sales themselves opening in April.
HTC’s no doubt got a lot on its plate, especially as it gets ready to begin sales of the Vive VR headset, but word of this (as of yet, unconfirmed) delay could still spell bad news for the company’s shaky smartphone sales figures. Will the G5 and GS7 distract shoppers from HTC’s upcoming launch, as they rush to get their hands on the latest phones with next-gen SoCs? It’s just a few more weeks before we begin finding out.
