Best Buy clearance sale lets you score the Moto X (2nd gen) for as little as $243
Age is not just a number for the fall 2014-released second-generation Motorola Moto X, whose 2015 sequel considerably upped the screen size and resolution ante, as well as processing power, memory, battery capacity, and photography prowess.
Still, the OG jumped from Android Lollipop to Marshmallow surprisingly early, and as such, it manages to stay in the spotlight way past its prime, also thanks to recent discounts enforced by Motorola and now Best Buy.
The latter charges as little as $243 for an unlocked black model with 4G LTE connectivity, as part of an online-only clearance sale that can’t possibly last very long. A few hours, a day or two, tops. If you prefer the water-resistant 5.2-incher backed by authentic bamboo, BB also hooks you up with a nice rebate from the $300 list price to $255.
In both cases, you obviously qualify for free shipping as well, and the range of networks you’re allowed to activate the Moto X (2nd gen) on is limited to those using GSM technology. That’s AT&T and T-Mobile, not Verizon or Sprint.
Aside from contemporary, silky smooth software, the 2014 X also has going for it a respectable Full HD AMOLED display, fast battery charging support, and 13MP rear-facing snapper with dual-LED flash. It’s by no means a 2016-grade flagship, but it offers plenty of punch for around 250 bucks.
