You might not be swimming in enough money to afford a $10,000 smartwatch. Heck, you might not be rich enough to toss in $1,800 for a watch. But if you still want some special tech to strut on your wrist for $1,100, well, you don’t have to travel far to get it. In the case of the Apple Watch Hermès up until this week, you did have to travel to a select few Apple and Hermès outlets to even check out the extravagant takes on the device, much less take it to checkout.
On Friday, Apple’s and Hermès’s online stores will have the watches available for purchase. Prices remain unchanged for the Single Tour, Double Tour and Cuff configurations of the Apple Watch Hermès: $1,100 to $1,500.
Apple has imaged the Apple Watch as a luxury timepiece from the outset. With the expanded availability, the expectation is for other fashion brands, maybe even the initial doubters, to jump aboard with either Apple or another wearable tech partner and take advantage of the trend by making it trendy.
