Google Play Store promo codes on the way in

If you’re a lucky sap that comes across every new Android app beta first, you might come across some promo codes soon. It’s been a long time coming and it’s been way too long after Apple’s App Store allowed for them. But hey, now’s better than never.

A new Help subsection in the Google Play Store Developer Console gives advice on how to adapt promo code input into in-app purchases or paid application downloads (not subscriptions). Promotions can be activated, paused or terminated as needed.

Each developer can generate up 500 promo codes per quarter and must be used or lost. They can last up to a year.
