In addition to a fairly extensive Windows 10 Mobile software update initially plagued by bugs, then ultimately stabilized and polished and sent to all three new Lumias without carrier intervention, Microsoft has also been hard at work on a 950 and 950 XL-specific firmware revisal.
This other update started its slow rollout before Christmas in various European markets, and after a short break, it’s now reportedly expanding to more British and Irish owners of the first W10M flagship devices.
Rest assured, our US-based friends and readers, as your firmware should soon get overhauled too, including on AT&T, with Redmond once again calling all the shots. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL changelog isn’t very extensive, but it does contain a few major “stability and performance improvements”, as well as SD memory card support and automatic display brightness augmentations, and a couple of specific fixes for specific camera bugs in both photo and video-taking scenarios.
Look for your firmware to change from version 010178.00017.15452.xxxx to 01078.00027.15506.xxxx once the update is completed, and let us know in the comments section below if you notice any big performance advances.
