Samsung bioprocessor can measure body fat, skeletal muscle mass, stress levels

Plenty of that smart wearable tech we have in our offices are equipped with heart rate monitors of some sort. If those little sensors do anything else, we can’t tell — all we can tell as that they measure heart rate to varying degrees of accuracy. But what if you could learn more about what your body’s doing at all times? Yep, that includes exercising.

Fear not, fitness fans and fatty friends, as Samsung is now ready to mass-produce an “all-in-one” bioprocessor chip that it will plan on implanting into health-focused smart devices within the first half of 2016.

In addition to heart rate and rhythm (wouldn’t want signs of arrhythmia, now do we?), the temperature of your skin, body fat, skeletal muscle mass and even stress.

So, if Jaime Rivera’s looking out for a Samsung Gear Fit or something in that vein next year for our Pocketnow Fitness series, we can put this thing to the test.

The chip goes under the code “S3FBP5A.”
