Facebook brings 360-degree video to iOS, and yes, even ads

Facebook continues to be the most popular social network in the world by a long shot, and part of that has a lot to do with how it continues to evolve over time. Some of the changes we’ve seen the company bring to the table have been anything but popular, but others have proven to gain a market. One of those experiments that Facebook started back in September is 360-degree videos, and that expands as of today.

Facebook has just announced that 360-degree video has just reached iOS in an update that was pushed today. The company is also launching a microsite deisgned to offer tips and tricks on creating videos, in addition to the the option for consumers to jump on the wagon and create their own, so long as they have the required hardware obviously.

The only sad part about all this is that the immersiveness of video will not just be limited to consumers. Ads will also be given the option to be shown in 360-degrees, since hey, that’s what pays the bills for Facebook. Test commercials from AT&T, Corona, Nescafe, Ritz, Samsung and Walt Disney World should show up on your feed soon.
