Facebook leaps over 1 billion daily active users, as mobile ads keep driving revenue
Guess all you hipsters ready to proclaim this or that social network as the next big online community will have to wait a while longer for Facebook to plunge into irrelevance. Mark Zuckerberg’s juggernaut continues to grow at a staggering pace, both as far as its user base is concerned and strictly from a financial standpoint.
Roughly three years ago, FB reached a major milestone when the monthly active user count first exceeded a billion. Of course, critics were quick to point the finger at duplicate and outright fake accounts for artificially inflating the number, which is why it’s so much more impressive to now hear there are over one billion daily active users of the service.
The remarkable September 2015 average of 1.01B marks a whopping 17 percent increase year-over-year, and similarly, mobile DAUs (daily active users) are considerably on the rise from the beginning of fall 2014. Specifically, a 27 percent surge on your Androids, iOS devices and Windows Phones, to a Twitter-crushing 894 million tally.
Speaking of mobile feats, we should mention small-screened MAUs (monthly active users) are likewise up, this time by 23 percent, to 1.39 billion people. In total, Facebook had 1.55B MAUs a couple of months back, so you probably won’t be shocked to hear mobile advertising brought in the lion’s share of earnings.
