Voice dictation on Pebble Time now open to third parties

The Pebble Time and its later successors garnered some decent fame over the last few weeks. Surely Pebble isn’t necessarily building the best looking round smartwatch, but we’ve got to hand it to the company for adding new features while sticking to most of its roots in this new line of smartwatches. Voice Dictation was one of those innovations, and today it gets an extra kick.

As of today Pebble has announced that it is allowing third-party developers to add voice dictation to apps for the Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and Pebble Time Round. This is a big deal as at the moment the service is rather limited, and the creativity of developers could help the service push new boundaries. We’re not sure if this will also bring the added dictation features to iOS that only Android paring receives at the moment, but we should learn more as updates to the wearables arrive in the near future.

As it stands developers may push apps supporting voice dictation starting today for the Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel, and in the case of the Pebble Time Round, things will have to wait until November 8th. Pebble also took the time to announce that its partner for voice dictation is Nuance, which explains how the feature has become so reliable.
