Sony Xperia Z5 Compact officially goes on sale in a number of European markets
Although it’s still without a US release date, the remarkable Xperia Z5 smartphone family has slowly begun its European rollout. You might be surprised to hear Sony chose to put the smallest, cheapest, lowest-end member of the trio up for grabs first, while the 5.2-inch Full HD Z5 is available on pre-order from Rome to Stockholm, and London to Warsaw, and the 5.5-inch 4K Z5 Premium is “coming soon.”
At 4.6 inches and 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution, the Xperia Z5 Compact may feel modest at a first glance, but it’s actually a “true” flagship device in an easily pocketable body. As such, don’t act shocked the octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC, 2GB RAM, 23MP rear camera, 5.1 MP selfie shooter, fingerprint scanner and semi-waterproof exterior command equivalent prices of $670 in certain EU territories.
The Italian and Spanish Sony e-stores, recently closed for everything besides mobile gear, list the Z5 Compact at €599, whereas their Swedish and Polish counterparts charge SEK 5,790 and PLN 2,599 respectively, which roughly convert to $685.
As for our UK-located friends and readers interested in the powerhouse munchkin, you can choose between sellers like Carphone Warehouse or O2, and pay £450 ($685) outright, or £0 with super-convenient monthly plans starting at £37.50 ($57).
