Apple Watch tipped for September 25 spread to T-Mobile and Sprint
It appears America’s third and fourth largest wireless service providers may actually use their customer portfolio sizes to their advantage soon enough, likely getting a jump on the carrier gold and silver medalists as far as Apple Watch sales are concerned.
We don’t know if that’s indeed the reason Sprint and T-Mobile will reportedly start stocking the “iWatch” on September 25 while Verizon and AT&T still wait for invitations to the launch party, but Cupertino probably doesn’t want to risk demand outstripping supply… again.
Of course, it’s hard to fathom why an interested buyer would have avoided the Apple Store and Best Buy thus far, given the Apple Watch lacks standalone cellular connectivity, and ergo will not be sold at an on-contract discount by any operator stateside.
Rumor has it a quartet of the market-leading WatchOS wearable variants is headed to Sprint, as the “Now Network” tries to regain its mojo and number three spot in the US carrier ranks. The 38mm Apple Watch Sport will obviously be the cheapest, at $350, with 50 bucks extra charged for the larger 42mm model.
Meanwhile, just like from Apple directly, and through Best Buy, 38 and 42mm “standard” Apple Watches with stainless steel cases shall set you back $550 and $600 respectively. No words on whether T-Mobile may follow suit across the board, or perhaps score a swankier, costlier edition too, but everything should unfold next Friday, September 25, when the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus also go on sale from Sprint, Magenta, as well as Big Red and Ma Bell.
