Apple Music boosted by exclusive Dre album, and Beats 1 replays

Apple’s challenge to make its Apple Music service hotter than the likes of Spotify does require some unique tactics, and we’ve seen a few lately. This is an on going business though, and today we learn that Cupertino has a few extra tricks up its sleeve.

The first is that Dr. Dre’s new Album, “Compton,” will be an Apple Music exclusive. It’s been a crazy 16 years since his last album, and given the fact that his “Detox” music project never delivered, Dre promises that this new album will be worth it. It should reach the service tonight, just in time for the release of the film “Straight out of Compton.”

The second is that even though Beats 1 has launched to a decent amount of praise, the station is getting better by now supporting full replays of its shows. It’ll still continue to behave like a radio station, but you can access your favorite shows afterwards. Most of these are being featured on the Connect page of each show host as well, to make discovery easier.

We’ll see what Apple comes up with next, but for now, I’m going to finally put this three month trial to good use, and re-live my teenage years with some Dre.
