Xiaomi sold 34.7 million smartphones in the first half of 2015
The Asian smartphone market has been growing at a breakneck pace as of late, and while we often don’t acknowledge the trend here in the U.S. of A., it’s becoming exceedingly difficult to ignore rising Asian manufacturers – especially as they make plans to enter the American smartphone market. One of the biggest of these smartphone players is Xiaomi (as you’ve seen in some of our reviews of Xiaomi smartphones), and today Xiaomi smartphone sales for the first half of 2015 have been announced.
Unsurprisingly, the company absolutely killed it on the numbers front. It took to Twitter to announce that it had sold 34.7 million smartphones in the first half of the year, which is a whopping 33% year-over-year increase, showing the company’s incredible growth, even though it was already an established competitor last year. Xiaomi is indeed the third largest exporter of smartphones in the world, so it has certainly made quite the name for itself in not a lot of time.
With expansion planned into Brazil and tentative expansion being contemplated into other countries, the only direction for the company as of right now is straight upward. And we’re looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
