Pebble shares plans for start of Pebble Time pre-orders in about a month

Were you one of the many smartwatch fans who backed the Pebble Time when it hit Kickstarter back in February? Tens of thousands of you did, and the first shipments are on their way out this week, with the balance of them set to be in the mail by the middle of next month. But what if missed that early adopter window and didn’t contribute to the project while the crowdfunding effort was underway? Worry not, for you’ll have your own chance to get a Pebble Time order in soon.

In addition to providing that update about shipping to backers, Pebble shares that Pebble Time pre-orders will open to everyone on June 22. Why just pre-orders, especially with production currently underway? Presumably, there’s still a bit of a backlog; we’ve reached out to Pebble for clarification, but the important take-away here is that you’ll be able to claim yours in just under four weeks.

And while this is good news, there’s no further word on similar pre-orders opening for the metal-bodied Pebble Time Steel. Given that this model isn’t on track to even start shipping to backers until July, it could still be another or so until we get some news about what the ordering situation looks like there.
