Google’s first Apple Watch app is News & Weather
Apple Watch, ever since its launch last month, has seen a steady stream of development from most top mobile software development companies. For example, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and others have announced their intentions (or apps already) to develop for the device – not one big company is ignoring this device’s existence. The latest company to hop on the Apple Watch bandwagon? One of Apple’s biggest competitors in the smartwatch arena: Google. This first Google Apple Watch app isn’t actually a separate app – it has just been issued in the form of an update to the existing News & Weather application.
News & Weather – an aptly-selected name if there ever was one – only arrived on iOS in the first place last fall. It’s a personalization-encouraging news app, similar to Google News on the web. The Watch app lets you swipe through headlines, as well have a look at the articles’ header images. However, you won’t be able to read even an excerpt of the article – have your phone ready if that’s what you’re interested in doing with this app.
It’s not a very heavily-featured app, but it should work fine, especially if you’re only using it as part of Glances. It’s available in the App Store now.
