Sony slips up and reveals Xperia Z4 tablet a few days early

The latest rumors have suggested that Sony will come to MWC 2015 without a new smartphone flagship: the best guess we currently have at an Xperia Z4 launch puts the date out closer to May. But Sony’s clearly coming to MWC and will have something to show off, so what will it be, then? Beyond that Xperia E4g that just went official, it now appears that Sony could be ready to introduce a new high-end tablet, as the company seems to have accidentally confirmed the Xperia Z4 Tablet.

The Xperia Tablet Z2 debuted at MWC last year, and we saw it followed up seven months later at IFA with the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Now Sony’s own Xperia Lounge app appears to have let slip plans to launch a new Xperia Z4 Tablet at this year’s MWC.

Sony’s already pulled (or just disabled) that in-app content, but not before a screencap could confirm the model’s existence. We don’t get a ton on insight into its feature set, but the copy accompanying the find describes the slate as having a 2K-class display, high-end SoC, and exceptional battery life. For full details we’ll have to wait another few days (assuming further leaks don’t beat us to the punch), but it’s at least nice to know we’ve got something to look forward to.
